Say Merry Christmas with “Soy Inocente” ringtone

If you’re still looking for that “one-of-a-kind” gift for the person who has everything, and who also happens to be politically astute in global affairs, but you have no more dinero, you’re in luck.

The only thing is you’ll need to borrow the person’s phone to download the craziest ringtone that’s currently the biggest hit in Peru and other South American countries.

The ringtone is called Soy Inocente, or I’m Innocent, and it’s the recording of Peru’s former President Alberto Fujimori’s recent outburst at the start of his kidnapping and murder trial.

For those of us who don’t know, Peruvians have a love-hate relationship with Fujimori who has already been convicted for abusing his authority while president.

Anyway, the ringtone features his declaration to the background tune of his techno-cumbia campaign music.

But what makes this ringtone really popular is that in addition to hearing Fujimori, Spain’s King Juan Carlos can also be heard uttering that now infamous command — porque no te calles (shut up) — to Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez during last month’s tense Chile summit.

In the ringtone loop, it makes it sound like King Juan Carlos is scolding Fujimori.

Granted, the Soy Inocente ringtone won’t be appreciated by anyone who doesn’t know what’s been happening in South America, or keeping up with current events, but on the other hand, it’s a useful phrase-tune to keep handy the next time somebody blames you for something you didn’t — or did do.
