Dallas is truly a multicultural city. With 40 percent of North Texas residents identified as being “foreign-born,” there’s a lot of potential to get out of our comfort bubbles and experience a different culture.
The best part is we don’t have to pay the increase in passport fees to get these experiences. They are all around us and this is the perfect time to start learning about them.
There’s probably no better place to start to get to know another culture than with music. No translations are needed to understand and appreciate the different beats, rhythms, and instruments that relay the soul of a culture.
On December 21, eleven different musical groups representing nine countries will perform in the Second Annual 2007 Latin American Christmas Concert or Navidad Latinoamericana.
From Argentina and Mexico to Paraguay and Venezuela, musicians bring their talents and traditional music to share with all of Dallas.
The venue for this rich sounding Christmas music will be in the heart of the Dallas Arts District at the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe.
With its high ceilings and natural acoustics, the Cathedral provides the perfect setting to hear and enjoy the talents of artists such as Mariachi de los Reyes from Mexico, Los Churumbeles de España and Parranda Venezuela, to name a few.
It’s a multinational event that exemplifies music can bring the world together.
