Favoriting contest: Fiery Food Challenge Awards Dinner at ZestFest

Square Pegs

Published: September 3, 2008

Our own Teresa Gubbins is, as I type, driving back from Fort Worth where she served as a judge for the Fiery Food Challenge at ZestFest.

What, praytell is the Fiery Food Challenge?

The Fiery Food Challenge is the most recognized, most prestigious competition of zesty products in the industry. In more than 80 categories from salsa to apparel, entrants vie for the coveted first place Golden Chile award. To find the best in zest, culinary expert judges sample every product through a series of blind tastings and the winners are announced at the awards ceremony during the week of ZestFest.

Teresa's not coming back emptyhanded -- she scored you two tickets to the Fiery Food Challenge Banquet Friday night. To enter to win, you'll need to go to the ZestFest event page and click "Add to favorites" (requires free / easy / painless registration and login).

While ZestFest is open to the public all weekend, with lots of hot n' spicy foods to sample, it looks to me like Teresa's tickets are getting you into something that isn't even available to the general public. She's sweet spicy like that.

Please note that this is not a guestlist deal. We have real paper tickets and you'll have to come to our offices to pick them up. We'll draw a winner sometime after noon tomorrow, depending on when I get back from my lunchtime wheelings and dealings.

overall winner was an entry in the "marketing label" category, for a product called Allspice Cafe cayenne habanero. best new product was Chuma Gourmet Foods' chuma-chipotle mix. and then there were a bunch of other category-specific winners like BBQ sauce, condiments, hot sauce, etc., which will be posted online sometime next week
